Ziggy is the (perfect) black one. Zeus is the (goofball) blue and white one. This is everything we'd tell you at the door.
Two Italian Greyhounds, on the big side for the breed. Zeus is 28 pounds, Ziggy is closer to 20. They like a good walk, a long snuggle, and then another walk. They overheat easily and can be finicky about drinking, so keep an eye on the water.
Seal, which reads as black, with a tiny white patch on his chest. About 20 pounds. Almost perfect. A total diva who does inexplicable stuff.
Blue-grey with a white blaze down his face and a white chest. 28 pounds, a big Italian Greyhound. More of a jock. Brings you balls, wants to run, barks at dogs that get too close and sometimes at joggers (see other dogs).
Call or text either of us, for anything. A photo is usually the fastest way to tell us what's going on.
This one sounds crazy and we have no idea why, but Ziggy hates the ding of an iPhone text notification. For real.
If you have an iPhone, put it on vibrate. The sound, in real life or on a TV show, sends him into a total nervous breakdown. Sometimes it's the sound of a text sending.
If you're watching TV and the ding goes off, he will lose it, and you might be thinking, oh my god, what happened to this poor dog. The answer is: we don't know, he's just that way.
Pick him up, love him, and pray that the protagonist of whatever you're watching on Netflix doesn't get another text.
Signs of overheating: heavy panting indoors, glassy eyes, wobbly. Cool towel, fan, water, and text us.
It's about distance. He mostly wants to play, but he has uncivilized tendencies, and this is the weak point in his behavior. He's improving.
He doesn't bark.
He wants to bark.
When we see a dog coming, we take a few steps to the side and distract him with a couple of dropped treats: Find it, or One, two, THREE. Moving away or stepping off the trail is usually enough.
Worst case, just scoop him up and hold him until the other dog is gone.
Zeus is sometimes reactive to joggers too. It's pretty random, so watch for them even when he seems calm. Keep him close, make room, and use Nice with a treat when he looks at you.
Freeze-dried kibble, free fed while we're away. Usually they won't eat much of it.
When we travel, we leave a towel or a pee pad in the bathroom. It's completely normal for them to use it, so please keep one there.
Zeus will pee and poop outside; he just needs a longer walk before he gets around to it. Ziggy pees on walks, but he poops in the bathroom more often than not.
Sometimes Ziggy decides we've been kidnapped and runs to the door like Homeward Bound. Scoop him up and distract him with a blanket or a game.
